Chair of Computational Social Science and Artificial Intelligence (CoSSI)

The Chair of Computational Social Science and Artificial Intelligence, newly established in 2026 at the University of Bamberg, combines Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction and Natural Language Processing. We study how people, groups and societies interact with and through AI, and we design AI-based socio-technical systems for collaboration and decision-making. Our research follows various lines: (1) AI integrated into co-located team meetings; (2) applications of AI in public administration and political decision making; (3) large-scale discourse and network analyses of technology hypes across social media, press and TV. Methodologically, we combine Design Science Research, transformer-based NLP, and multimodal machine learning with qualitative approaches.
