Registration and supervision of theses

This event is aimed at all students who are interested in writing their thesis at the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Controlling. Below, we explain the process for registering theses at the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Controlling. The table above shows all the important dates. Before the semester begins, you can apply to write a thesis at our department using an online form. The students we select will be notified by email. Please note that we only inform selected students, so if you do not receive a message, this automatically means that your application has been rejected. Due to limited capacity, we are unable to offer a place to everyone. An information event will then take place. Afterwards, we ask students to submit their topic proposals by email. These will be discussed and then assigned. You will also receive notification of this by email. You can then discuss everything else with your supervisor.

Please note:
If the number of interested students exceeds the capacity limit, the progress of the major will determine whether the thesis is accepted.

Prerequisites

Bachelor's students should have successfully completed at least two controlling courses. We recommend that Master's students have attended at least two courses in the field of controlling.

Registration, duration and completion of the thesis

We plan a 4-week induction period for students before the theses are registered. The processing time is 2 months for Bachelor's theses and 4 months for Master's theses. In the course of the semester, the theses are presented in a presentation. The dates for the presentation of the theses can be found in the schedule.

Supervision during the thesis

After the start of the processing period, we recommend arranging one meeting per month with your supervisor. At these meetings, you will discuss the current status as well as questions and problems in connection with your thesis. If you have any further questions, please contact your supervisor.
