Major Field Practical “The Alps: Defereggental – East Tyrol”

The field practical to the „Defereggental“ in East Tyrol, led by Prof. M. Möller from 18–28 July 2026, combined physical-geographical insights into the high-altitude Alpine valley with human-geographical topics, including cross-border alpine pasture management and historical copper mining. Other key topics, such as sustainable management through modern hydroelectric and wood-chipper power stations, the challenges of eco-tourism, and daily life on the alpine pastures, were also discussed. The excursion provided insights into the intersection of tourism, history and sustainable management in the Alpine region.
