Research

"Lost Places" is the title of a R&D project at Otto-Friedrich-University in strong cooperation with the Berliner Hochschule für Technik. It deals with the reconstruction of buildings inside and outside in the presentation in a VR/AR (virtual/augmented reality) environment. Therefore selected buildings are photographed first with handheld cameas and with unmaned arial vehicles (UAV) "drone cameras" too. These images are processed using a structure from motion (SfM) algorithm. The resulting 3D object is finally textured with the according imagery and represented as an interactive 3D model.

An example can be explored here; just click inside the image and you will be redirected to the 3D-model. Please be patient and wait for some seconds until the complex model has been loaded into your browser. It represents the "Fleischhalle", Institute of Physical Geography, located in the center of Bamberg, Am Kranen 1.

GISCO 2025

From 9 to 10 June 2025, the GISCO 2025 (GIScience Conference) doctoral colloquium took place at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg. Here, Prof. Möller’s doctoral students presented their projects and the current status of their research to an interested specialist audience as part of an academic conference. The speakers were:

Prof. Dr. Aurelie Davranche, associate professor at the University of Angers and currently visiting Bamberg as part of the Erasmus programme. A brief description of her current research activities can be found here.

Ma Sc Anna Louis Hohmann: “Toward a Common Data Environment: Enhancing GIS-BIM/CAD Interoperability in Infrastructure Projects(215.6 KB)”.

Ma Sc Gulam Mohiuddin: “Urban Heat and Green Spaces: A Novel Land Surface Temperature (LST) -Based Framework(1.9 MB)”.

Ma Sc Lukasz Rojek: “PLANTSENS - A rail-based multi-sensor imaging system for redundant water stress detection and automated irrigation in greenhouses(1.7 MB)”.
