Frequently asked questions
Can I have credits earned at a foreign university recognized even without a Learning Agreement?
Yes, this is possible. You can submit a credit transfer application at any time via the chair responsible for the module for which you are seeking recognition. In this case, the respective student contacts the chair whose module is to be replaced, and the chair conducts an equivalence assessment.
A Learning Agreement anticipates this equivalence assessment and provides additional certainty, as the respective chair commits to granting recognition before you go abroad.
Another option for having credits from studies abroad recognised is the SAS Mobility Window.
Is a Learning Agreement legally binding?
No, it is not legally binding, as a full equivalence check can only be conducted after your return, based on the content actually taught and the coursework completed. Therefore, you are advised to contact the respective chair with which you signed the Learning Agreement if it turns out that any information relevant for the equivalence assessment (e.g., syllabus, course content, examination format) was incorrect, incomplete, or changes during your stay.
