PhD Student – Scientific Employee (m/f/d)
in Computer Science, esp. Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Intelligent Systems
(Full-time, salary according to E13 TV-L)

initially limited to 2 years with the option of extension and the goal of a doctoral degree.

The Multimodal Intelligent Interaction group performs research in the field of intelligent systems and human-robot interaction (HRI). The focus is on hybrid AI approaches, machine learning methods, generative AI, foundation models, and multimodal interaction. Our research covers both new theoretical approaches in these areas and their application in industrial and service robotics as well as socio-technical assistance systems.

Your Role:

Research in the area of artificial intelligence, human-robot interaction, and advanced systems engineering
Independent scientific work on a research topic
Participation in research and teaching at the chair
Presentation of research results at international conferences and publication in internationally recognized journals
Realization and further development of robot demonstrators in research and teaching
Participation in teaching courses and supervision of seminar papers and theses

Your Profile:

Good completed university degree (Master or equivalent) in computer science
Knowledge and experience in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning
Very good programming skills (e.g., C++, Python)
Experience in programming with AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow) and 3D simulation environments (e.g., MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, Gazebo) is a plus
Interest in human-robot interaction and interdisciplinary research
Strong ability to work analytically, conceptually and independently as well as good communication and teamwork skills
Very good knowledge of German and English is required or must be acquired within a very short period of time
