The Human-Interaction Group at the University of Bamberg invites applications for a position starting 1 May 2016 of a 

Full-time Graduate/Post-Doc Research and Teaching Assistant

(100% full-time; German tariff scale TV-L E 13)

We guarantee the position until 31 December 2017 and aim to extend it up to 6 years. The position is full-time and offers the possibility of doing a PhD or Post-Doc.

The HCI Group designs, develops, and evaluates technological concepts, prototypes, and systems based on an understanding of how people interact with and communicate through information and communication technology.

Successful candidates will support the team in the design and administration of user studies as well as the analysis and documentation of the results. As a candidate you have experience in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), particularly in Usability Engineering and ideally are familiar with the fields Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing. Assistants at the University of Bamberg are paid employees of the university, who pursue a Ph.D. or Post-Doc and participate in the research, teaching and other activities of the HCI group.

We wish:

  • Master or PhD degree with a strong empirical focus (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors or related areas) is a prerequisite
  • Knowledge of and experience with quantitative empirical research methods.
  • Experience with statistics software (e.g., SPSS, R)
  • Good command of English (and willingness to learn German)
