Lebenslauf

Felix Schuhmann has been a doctoral researcher at the Gamification Research Group at the University of Bamberg since 2026. He conducts research within the Collaborative Research Center CASCAID 1755, in close collaboration with the University Hospital Erlangen. His research focuses on the development and empirical investigation of digital, game-based systems - including serious games - within the healthcare context, as well as the analysis of behavioral and interaction dynamics in digital health systems.

In his work, he examines how game-based applications and interactive platforms influence user motivation, engagement, learning outcomes, and decision-making processes. He combines design-oriented research with quantitative methods to systematically analyze and further develop the impact of digital interventions. A central part of his work is the development and evaluation of IMMUNOVERSE, a digital platform for investigating game-based applications in the healthcare context. This platform also promotes scientific dialogue between patients, the public, and researchers, while examining motivation, social dynamics, and long-term engagement with autoimmune diseases and therapy options.

He studied Information Systems (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. His bachelor’s thesis was conducted in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers AG and focused on AI-supported conversion of databases into knowledge graphs and their querying. During his more than five-year tenure as a working student at Siemens Healthineers AG, he worked on projects related to data provision and analysis.
