Presentation of the PRIME Research Project at XR-Day 2025 (8 July 2025)

Mixed Reality, Virtual Reality, and the Metaverse promise a wide range of exciting new possibilities — allowing us to overcome physical boundaries, travel through time, explore new forms of social interaction, and step into fictional realities. However, immersive technologies also present new challenges and risks, particularly in the areas of privacy and data protection.

Funded by the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology, and Space, we are investigating what a Metaverse could look like that reflects Germany’s values and goals regarding privacy and data protection. In our research, we explore the desires and expectations of consumers in this domain and develop knowledge for the developer community so that these wishes can become a reality.

At XR Day 2025  in Nuremberg, we presented results from our research project PRIME – Privacy in the Metaverse – to the XR developer community and invited attendees to take part in an interactive hands-on experiment.

It was a fantastic exchange, and we are already looking forward to XR Day 2026.
