Chair of Computer Networks

Prof. Dr. Florian Klingler

Our teaching and research activities focus primarily on wireless communications, alongside traditional computer networks and computing systems, adopting a broad and interdisciplinary approach.

Our research focuses on adaptive wireless networks in highly dynamic scenarios, leveraging sub-6 GHz and millimeter-wave (mmWave) communications, with applications in vehicular networks and ad hoc sensor networks. A key area of our work is the design and development of architectures and network protocols that enable efficient and resilient communication in wireless networks. Applications include the Internet of Things (IoT) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, incorporating probabilistic data structures. In addition, we conduct research on 5G/6G networking technologies and connected embedded systems, with applications in smart audio.

In this context, we offer courses covering the fundamentals of traditional computer networks, including the physical, data link, network, transport, and application layers, with a particular focus on wireless communications. Topics include IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi, LoRa communication for sensor networks, and 5G/6G communication systems.
