State of the Art in Mathematics and Phenomenology Workshop Commences

The Bamberg Mathematical Consciousness Science Initiative (BAMΞ) at University of Bamberg is pleased to announce that its upcoming workshop “State of the Art in Mathematics and Phenomenology” (12–13 November 2025) has already attracted 130 registrations from members of the global consciousness-science community.

The workshop — the opening event of the Mathematical Phenomenology Sprint organized by BAMΞ — convenes leading scholars at the intersection of mathematics and phenomenology, showcasing contemporary advances and mapping out future directions. With participants drawn from diverse regions and institutional backgrounds, the workshop reflects the growing international interest in bridging formal mathematical methods with phenomenological inquiry. The high registration number underscores the vitality of this research nexus and the eagerness of the community to engage.

The programme features invited talks by distinguished researchers including Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Yoshimi (University of California, Merced) on “Mathematical Phenomenology: What it Is, How to Do It, and Where Things Stand”, Prof. Dr. Mirja Hartimo (University of Helsinki) on “Husserlian Philosophy of Mathematics”, Prof. Dr. Yuko Ishihara (Ritsumeikan University, Osaka) on “Beyond Infinite Reflection: Nishida’s Mathematical Models of Self-Consciousness”, and others.

Organizers welcome all registered participants and anticipate lively discussion sessions that will probe open questions, challenge prevailing assumptions, and chart new lines of inquiry into mathematical phenomenology and its role within consciousness science.
