School workshop “Artificial Intelligence for Beginners”, Nov. 16, 2023

Practice makes perfect if you want to be an AI expert soon

In cooperation with the Schülerforschungszentrum (SFZ) of the TechnologieAllianzOberfranken (TAO), the Chair of Explainable Machine Learning organized the workshop "Artificial Intelligence for Beginners".

The Schülerforschungszentrum offers pupils from the age of twelve the opportunity to conduct independent research in the fields of computer science, natural sciences, materials science, and technology.

In the entertaining workshop, nine interested pupils from Kulmbach, Burgkunstadt, Bamberg, and Bayreuth were given an insight into the principles of AI and were even able to train a simple AI model using real data.

Step-by-step instructions gave them an initial understanding of the most important phases of model training, from data pre-processing to model evaluation.

The programming language used was Python, for which a brief introduction to the most important functions was provided.

Ethical considerations were also discussed to encourage reflection on the responsible use of AI and its potential impact on society.

Whether participants are looking for a career in technology or simply wanted to broaden their knowledge, this workshop offered a first hands-on insight into the world of AI. No prior knowledge was required, just curiosity!
