Research visits
The short-term mission trips are designed to allow researchers with complementary expertise to build relationships and research avenues, to spend time exploring and working intensively on joint research projects in personal meetings. Moreover, the focus lies on the exchange of research results and methods. Bridging disciplinary divides allows to find new solutions to problems in current research. In addition, the PhDs and Postdocs have the opportunity to profit from the expertise of professors in the BRIDGES NETWORK universities that also serve as co-supervisors for their theses. The Research Visits usually last between one week and two months.
Several research visits and mobilities of PhD students and Postdocs are promoted by the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst/ German Academic Exchange Service) and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. All universities agreed on taking an active role in applying for additional funds and research grants.
