Theses

Supervision

I am happy to supervise you as you write your bachelor’s or master’s thesis. This opportunity is open to students of both sociology and economics. I strongly recommend that you have previously attended one of my courses. You should generally have an interest in topics related to empirical labor market research and possess prior knowledge of applied data analysis.

Please contact me well in advance (approximately 2–3 months before the start of your thesis work). During our initial meeting, we will discuss potential topics. These are generally based on my current research. I am also open to topic suggestions from you. In that case, please send me a few key points via email in advance.

Supervision takes the form of “process support,” meaning we meet at regular intervals for office hours to discuss your progress, questions, or problems.

At the end of the project period, sociology students will participate in a defense, during which you will present and discuss your work in a 30-minute presentation.

Processing time and scope

The duration for completing a bachelor’s thesis in the EES program is 2 months (23–28 pages) and 3 months (35–40 pages) in the Sociology program.

The duration for completing a master’s thesis is 6 months (60–80 pages).
