New article on adaptive digital study assistance systems, based on a master's thesis

At the 24th Conference Bildungstechnologien (DELFI 2026), the article Semesterverlaufsadaptive Personalisierung im Kontext eines digitalen Studienassistenzsystems by Rebecca Notter, Tobias Hirmer, and Prof. Dr. Andreas Henrich was published:

The article is based on Rebecca Notter’s master’s thesis and addresses the complexity of academic planning at German universities. Digital academic support systems are intended to assist students in this regard; however, according to the current state of research, their functions typically address only specific usage scenarios. The authors develop concepts for adaptive user interfaces and test them with students. Their findings show that rule-based systems work well with clear criteria, while more individualized tasks require a more granular level of customization, which AI techniques, for example, can enable by utilizing interaction data.
