Bachelor’s and Master’s theses
in International Accounting and Auditing

Pre-conditions for the preparation of final theses:

  • Bachelor’s thesis: Successful completion of the module "Accounting in Accordance with the German Commercial Code" before registering the Bachelor’s thesis
  • Master’s thesis: None. However, attendance of the "Research seminar about International Accounting and Auditing" is strongly recommended.

Application for and supervision of theses:

An application is required to write a thesis at our chair. Please fill out the registration form by

- February 28 for the summer semester
- August 31 for the winter semester .

Students will then receive feedback from the chair within two weeks in the form of an acceptance or a place on the waiting list. Students then have two weeks to respond and indicate whether or not they wish to accept the offer of supervision. It is therefore possible that students on the waiting list may move up during this period.

During the first week of lectures, kick-off events for bachelor's and master's theses will be held via Microsoft Teams. The exact dates and times will be communicated.

In addition to organizational matters, topic suggestions will also be presented at these meetings. Students can specify their topic preferences and will then receive feedback on which topic has been assigned to them. This is followed by a four-week reading period before all theses are registered centrally. The processing time is 2 months for bachelor's theses and 4 months for master's theses. During the processing period, a defense will take place as part of an interim presentation. These dates will be announced at a later date.

You can find all further information in the corresponding VC course. Please register for the relevant course using your student e-mail address.
