Content

The course Internet of Things at Supply Chain Management II is designed as an advanced course. Students should understand how sensor tags, wireless networks and real-time localization systems work and be able to evaluate the practical use of corresponding products and systems from both a technical and a business perspective. Students will be taught appropriate fundamentals, procedures and methods.

Essential topics comprise:

  • Summary of essential content from Internet of Things at Supply Chain Management II and introduction to the topic
  • Functions and performance classes of cyber-physical systems (CPS) and intelligent objects
  • Application-specific requirements and corresponding technological solutions:
    • Monitoring transport quality with sensor tags
    • Managing assets with wireless sensor networks WSN
    • Monitoring processes on shop floor and logistics with WLAN
    • Supporting transshipment activities with infrastructure-based real-time localization systems (RTLS)
    • Worldwide monitoring of containers with telematics
  • Cyber-Physical Systems as the foundation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0)
  • Excursion to Fraunhofer IIS - understanding wireless sensor networks and localization systems
