The following two corpus examples represent the types of sentences which were looked for in the different collections of texts for this project.
(4) “It’s so simple really, isn’t it?” (LOB P)
(5) “But his past has something to do with what you want him for, right?” (Frown N)
Example (4) comes from LOB, the British corpus of the 1960s and contains the tag isn’t it. Example (5) comes from the American corpus of the 1990s and illustrates the use of right as a question tag.
