3. Exploring the OED online

Many universities, schools and institutional libraries have subscribed to the OED online and offer members free access to the full OED version whenever and wherever needed. However, it is also possible for individuals to use a free 30-days test version of the dictionary or to subscribe at a monthly or annual rate. Before browsing the webpage and especially if intending to use the OED as a linguistic database, the user is recommended to create a personal account. That way, the easily set-up personal profile will help to structure later search results (in folders), keep track of preferences or striking entries and save the search history.
