Workshop "Writing Research English"

This is a practical workshop designed to give participants the chance to be given feedback and guidance on articles they are currently writing. Sessions will be devoted to drafting/editing Abstracts and Introduction sections. The workshop will also cover how to write in an academic style, typical academic phrases for introducing, defining, qualifying, interpreting findings and concluding etc. and the difference between academic and general vocabulary.

  • Academic Vocabulary, Grammar and beyond
  • Analysing and writing Abstracts
  • Useful Phrases for introducing, defining, referring to and reviewing other work
  • Planning & drafting the “Introduction” section

Aims
The workshop will help particpants learn how to analyse a text to understand how English is used in their field. Particpants will learn a variety of skills they can use to produce texts that are appropriate to their field of research.

Number of participants: 12 participants maximum

Target group: PhD-students, and Postdocs
