SPOT - Conference Support for Early-Career Researchers
SPOT offers a platform for advanced early-career researchers. This scholarship supports the planning and organization of an innovative conference that creates good publicity for the researchers' respective research disciplines. In particular, early-career researchers without permanent employment and early-career researchers with small children (for whom driving to a conference requires s high organizational effort) should be given the opportunity to distinguish themselves within their discipline and to receive important input on their research interests.
Applicants may be female post-docs or private lecturers who are conducting research at the University of Bamberg. Applications are accepted from both individuals and groups of up to three early-career researchers.
The application period occurs once per year. Applications should be addressed to the University-wide Women's Representatives through the Women's Office. The distribution of funds is decided upon by the University-wide Women's Representatives.
The following documents are required in order to apply:
- CV of the applicant(s)
- Draft of a Call for Papers
- List of planned PR measures to occur prior to the conference
- Possible keynote speaker
- Cost estimate
- Assessment of a professor (at least W2) on the possible position of the planned conference in subject-specific discourse
- If applicable, offer from a publisher or renowned journal to publish the conference results
Scope of Support
Up to 6,000 euros may be provided for the organizing, hosting, and publishing of the conference. This covers expenses such as:
- Fee for keynote speaker
- Travel Expenses
- Distribution of Conference Results
- Event Folders
- PR Work
Organization of the Conference
If the conference can not be associated with a professorship or department at the University of Bamberg, it is possible to utilize the infrastructure of the Women's Office. For example, an assistant may be hired via the Women's Office.
The conference organizors are required to provide the Women's Office with an expense report and conference results shortly after the conference occurs.
