Philipp Mundt studied economics and business administration at Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel, Germany. In the choice of his advanced courses Philipp Mundt has focused on international finance and macroeconomics in the economics program, and on controlling and accounting in the business administration program. In May 2011, he graduated in both subjects with a thesis on "Systemic risk and financial contagion in network models of the banking sector" (with honours). For his thesis Philipp Mundt was awarded a prize by Deutsche Bundesbank. From June 2010 to March 2011 Philipp Mundt was employed as a student assistant at the Chair of Monetary Economics and International Finance (Prof. Dr. Thomas Lux) at Christian-Albrechts University in Kiel. Since May 2011 Philipp Mundt is a research assistant at the Chair of International Economics and PhD candidate at the University of Bamberg. His current research focuses on statistical equilibrium economic modeling and industrial dynamics.
