Zur Person: Shahid Latif is working as a research associate at the University of Bamberg since January 2022. Before that, he worked as a doctoral researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen for four and a half years. He has recently submitted his Ph.D. dissertation for the degree of Dr. rer.nat under the title: "Bridging the Gap Between Explanation and Exploration." His research deals with investigating a close integration of multiple media such as text and audio with data visualization in a communication context. He is also interested in exploring data visualization in virtual and augmented reality environments, as well as for smartphone displays. Recently, his research is heading in a direction toward leveraging multiple streams of data (e.g., knowledge graphs, social media data) and using state-of-the-art natural language processing techniques to contextualize data visualization for comprehensive dissemination.
