Reporting publication fees for articles in hybrid journals
Some closed-access journals offer their authors the option to make their publication freely accessible by paying the publication fees. These options may be called Open Choice or Open Select, and the journals are often referred to as "hybrid journals".
The guidelines of the German Research Foundation prohibit using open-access funds to pay these fees, since the publishing companies in this case would twice receive public funds – once for subscriptions and again for the Open Access option. More information about the Open Access business model can be found on the website open-access.net.
Even though this is the case, we would like to ask you to fill in the form below if the option is offered. This will help estimate the potential demand at the University of Bamberg, and perhaps lead to the development of new models of Open Access funding in hybrid journals. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
