Since October 2018 Laura Löwe is a doctoral student at the Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS). She studied sociology (B.A. and M.A.) at the university of Kassel. During her studies she worked as a student assistant and tutor at the chair for Methods of Empirical Social Research and as a student assistant in the project „Competence orientated assessment of communicative skills of students (KomPrue)“ at the International Centre for Higher Education Research (INCHER) in Kassel.
Her research interests include higher education research, social inequality and quantitative methods of empirical social research.
In her doctoral thesis, she analyses the association between social origin and higher education graduates’ labour market outcomes. With the treatment of higher education degrees as positional goods, she wants to account for the changing value of higher education degrees in the course of educational expansion.
