Teaching, Studying and Sharing Information Online
Internet Presence/Websites or Cooperation Platform?

For the purpose of public relations and information, each university department, division or other institution may create a website at www.uni-bamberg.de. The head of each such group can designate Typo3 editors to maintain and manage the group’s individual websites.
The Typo3 program allows users to select from a variety of back end languages.
Institutional websites are accessible at www.uni-bamberg.de/institutionalcode.
Information at www.uni-bamberg.de is publically available worldwide.

The University of Bamberg’s Virtual Campus, online at vc.uni-bamberg.de, makes it possible to share information with specific groups of people. Additionally, you can use the platform as a teaching tool or as a way to collaborate with project or committee colleagues.
The Virtual Campus (VC) is based on the Moodle (Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) learning management system and is a free, open-source system.
University employees can have a VC course created by the ITfL Service team by indicating the relevant classification information (e.g. academic faculty, subject, department and semester) and the person who will be responsible for the course.
The VC allows you to select a language at a number of different levels: in each individual user profile, and at the course level. Help texts and instructions in multiple languages are available at docs.moodle.org. Currently, VC courses with brief instructions for moderators and users are available only in German.
