Aäron’s fields of interest include Early Christianity, in particular fourth- and fifth-century North Africa, Manichaean Studies, and the textual transmission of Patristic texts. In 2019 he defended his doctoral dissertation on Evodius of Uzalis and his anti-Manichaean treatise Aduersus Manichaeos. His doctoral research encompassed a new critical edition of Aduersus Manichaeos and a multifaceted analysis (literary, theological, and historical) of it.

At present, Aäron conducts a study on Augustine’s debate with the two-day debate with Manichaean teacher Felix which took place in 404. The minutes of this debate are preserved as Augustine’s Contra Felicem. Aäron is preparing a new critical edition of Contra Felicem.
