Guest Lecture: Against Nostalgia - The Restoration Past in the Crime Novels of Susanna Gregory and L.C. Tyler

You are cordially invited to the guest lecture by Dorothea Flothow (University of Salzburg) on the topic of "Against Notalgia – The Restoration Past in the Historical Crime Novels of Susanna Gregory and L.C. Tyler".

In contrast to the current popular imagination of the Restoration Period, both Susanna Gregory's and L.C. Tyler's crime fiction series paint a remarkebly negative image of that time. This lecture will look at how these authors distance themselves from nostalgic images of the past, for example through the much more detailed historical depiction or the choice and use of historical sources.

The lecture will take place online via zoom on 28 November from 6pm-8pm and can be accessed here: https://uni-bamberg.zoom-x.de/j/67096890817
