Centre for Innovative Applications of Computer Science

The Centre for Innovative Applications of Computer Science at the University of Bamberg, ZIAI for short, creates and studies emerging computing technologies. ZIAI focuses on applications problems that arise in the humanities, the social or the behavioral sciences. It serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research with members from different branches of computer science as well as from application fields of computing such as linguistics, cognitive psychology or building archeology.

Currently, ZIAI involves 25 researchers who contribute to four major areas of study: digital culture, socio-technical systems, cognition and interaction, digital teaching and learning. ZIAI supports research cooperation with partners from other universities and with companies interested in innovative computing technologies. As a service to members of the University of Bamberg, ZIAI also provides scientific support to a selected number of the research projects through its problem desk service.
