Objectives

The degree programs in Sociology at the University of Bamberg are oriented towards five objectives. At commencement all Sociology graduates will have accomplished the following objectives:

The “Bamberg Model” of the sociology degree programs is distinguished from other sociology degree programs in Germany by the following aspects:

 

  • A strong emphasis on the training of quantitative methodologies (armamentarium)
  • Comprehensive fundamentals in the empirical and theoretical knowledge stock of the discipline (foundations)
  • Practical use of theoretical knowledge in application-oriented courses (key qualifications)
  • Specialization in certain fields of activity (individual profile)
  • Creation of flexible and individual curricula (individual profile)

 

The overarching goal is to convey abilities and skills that ensure employability in the job market or further scientific education.
