Digital Media at the University Library

Even with the university library closed you have unlimited access to our many E-Books (over 1 million), E-Journals and databases through the university network (also accessible via VPN or Shibboleth).

  • You may find hints on finding and using E-Books here.
  • You may find E-Journals in the Electronic Journals Library EZB.
  • Databases are listed in the Database Information System DBIS.
  • The search engine BASE and the Browser-Plugin Unpaywall will help you look for documents available in Open Access.
  • Many of the Specialised Information Services (“Fachinformationsdienste”) offer access to more digital media after signing up with them.

Library closed – open online - Appointments for checking out items

By order of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Arts there are still strict restrictions concerning the loaning of items and the usage of the reading rooms in all branch libraries. All of our online-services are still available to you. Please use our E-Books, E-Journals and databases.

If you want to borrow books and other items you can order them in the Bamberg Catalogue for pickup at a branch library. Please make an appointment online in the according branch library for pickup. Please adhere to the due dates, so that the items can be made available to other user. The return boxes outside of branch library 3 and 4 and outside ERBA-library are re-opened. You can also return items by mail as a parcel.

If you would like to access digital ressources on of the library-pcs or if you want to consult an item that is only available in the reading room, you can book a desk online in branch library 3, 4 or 5 for one hour.

If you would like to scan, print or copy you can also schedule an appointment in branch library 3, 4 and 5 online.

The university library provides a digitization service for electronic term reserves.

Bamberg University Library

As a central body, the University Library is responsible for supplying the University with literature and information for research and teaching. Furthermore, it makes its resources available for scientific and professional purposes as well as for educational and continuous trainings to anyone who is interested.
