Studying History in Bamberg

The Bachelor's degree programme in History offers you the history from antiquity to the present day in a variety of ways. The chairs of Ancient, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary History, Modern and Contemporary History. The History of Economics and History of Innovation, Didactics of History and Basic and the basic historical sciences set thematic focal points. Spatial orientation is provided by regional history, which is a cross-sectional task of the chairs and the Institute for Franconian Regional History in Thurnau.

Structure of the Bachelor's Degree

In the introductory module, you practise basic skills for independent academic work. The basic modules in the four epochal sub-subjects introduce the subject-specific working methods and topics, the advanced modules deepen the acquired overview knowledge.

In addition to the individual composition of the modules, the compulsory elective area offers the possibility of interest-based specialisation. Excursions and internships in the supplementary area make what has been learned in a clear and practical way.

History can be studied in Bamberg as a core subject (150 ECTS points), major subject (75 ECTS points) or as a minor subject (30/45 ECTS points).
