Qualification goals

The bachelor's degree program in business administration leads to a first academic university degree with professional qualifications. It prepares students for more advanced courses of study.


Scientific qualification

Those who have successfully completed the Bachelor's program in Business Administration,

    are able to compare central economic models and theories of at least one of the chosen major fields of study (Banking and Financial Controlling, Business Taxation, Financial Economics, Innovation Management, International Accounting and Auditing, Organization, Human Resource Management & Organizational Behavior, Production and Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Management & Controlling, Sales and Marketing) and have characterized at least one of them in term papers;
    have demonstrated from the module group General Business Administration with 10 obligatory modules that they can acquire and reproduce large amounts of theoretical and methodological knowledge or evaluate it with regard to its usefulness;
    have a broad and integrated knowledge of business administration from the module group S-BWL, exemplified by the modules Bankbetriebslehre, Unternehmensbesteuerung I: Steuerarten, Finanzmarktmodelle und Strategisches Risikomangement, Wissensmanagement, Rechnungslegung nach IFRS, Strategy and Competition, Organisational Behaviour, Produktions- und Logisikmanagement II, Supply Chain Management und Digitalisierung, Unternehmensführung I und II, Customer Management, which enables them to understand and critically assess new scientific problems and tasks;
    have shown in the context of their final thesis that they can design a research paper in which they have applied learned knowledge and a research method to a derived research question and have assessed its contribution to the corresponding sub-discipline of business administration;
    have selected, adapted and applied relevant, possibly more complex methods (e.g. structured literature evaluation as well as basic methods of empirical social research) to specific questions in the context of term papers and presentations. In addition, they have conceived their own ideas and reflected on their implementation;
    have acquired content-related and methodological basics of the neighboring disciplines of law, economics, statistics and mathematics within the framework of modules such as private law, introduction to commercial and corporate law, macroeconomics I, microeconomics I, methods of statistics I and II, mathematics for economists I and II.

 

Qualification for qualified gainful employment

Those who have successfully completed the bachelor's program in Business Administration,

    have demonstrated, by working on case studies, for example in Finance (Introduction to Financing and Investment, Cases in Corporate Finance), Taxes (Tax Cases), Innovation Management (Innovation-Oriented Corporate Management), that they are able to apply the theoretically acquired knowledge and the learned management tools to entrepreneurial problems in a way that is appropriate to the requirements and the situation;
    are able, through the preparation of homework and seminar papers in conjunction with a presentation, for example in the modules International Entrepreneurship, Business Plan Preparation, Knowledge Management, Grand Challenges: Organizational Perspectives and Response, Diversity Management, Global Marketing, to independently analyze and optimize operational processes by being able to justify their own professional actions with theoretical and methodological knowledge;
    are able to develop their own approaches to solutions based on established theories and methods as well as to recognize interdisciplinary problems and to develop possible contributions of business administration to the solution of such problems with the preparation of the scientific thesis (Bachelor's thesis) and the associated supervision process and the obligatory colloquium or a disputation;
    reflect on the social background of business administration and can explain its significance for the present.


Personal Development

Those who have successfully completed the bachelor's program in business administration,

    have critically examined models or theories of business administration in group work by working on case studies and by preparing term papers and seminar papers and the results presented jointly in the group and have argued their topic in a well-founded manner. In doing so, they consider the perspectives of others;
    have made decisions, set priorities and distributed tasks in group work by working on case studies and by preparing term papers and seminar papers and the results presented jointly in the group. In doing so, each person took responsibility for him/herself or his/her own task in the group;
    are able to assess their own abilities (professional, methodical and social competence) and already have ideas for their further development;
    are sensitized to the need to assume responsibility within the framework of the professional values of their activity or profession, for example the consideration of legal regulations and their intention, the concerns of the employees entrusted to them and the consequences of their decisions on society and the environment.
