Structure and Content

The master's program in business administration includes the compulsory and elective modules. Modules are grouped into the following module groups:

  • General Management with 36 ECTS credits,
  • Special Business Studies of the Master's Program in Business Administration with 36 ECTS credits,
  • Business Foreign Language with 6 ECTS credits,
  • Research with 18 ECTS credits,
  • Master's thesis with 24 ECTS credits.

Students are responsible for choosing their modules in such a way that the total number of 120 ECTS credits for the Master's degree is achieved.

In the module group Special Business Studies, modules amounting to 36 ECTS credits are to be completed, of which 18 ECTS credits each are allocated to a compulsory elective subject of the Master's degree program in Business Administration. The study of elective subjects is intended to provide comprehensive, in-depth knowledge and methodological skills in a Special Business Administration.

Students who choose the Master's program in Business Administration complete modules in the following module groups:

 

General Management

In the module group General Management, modules from two compulsory elective areas must be completed. In each of the two compulsory elective areas, the competences from modules amounting to 18 ECTS credits are to be acquired. In this module group, a basic in-depth knowledge of all important sub-areas of business administration such as

  • Banking and financial controlling,
  • Business taxation,
  • Finance,
  • Controlling,
  • Innovation Management,
  • International accounting and auditing,
  • Organization,
  • Human Resources Management,
  • Production Management and Logistics,
  • Supply chain management,
  • Sales and Marketing

Special Business Administration

In the module group Special Business Administration, modules with a total of 36 ECTS credits are to be completed, of which 18 ECTS credits each are allocated to a compulsory elective subject of the Master's degree program in Business Administration. The study of the elective subjects is intended to provide comprehensive, in-depth knowledge and methodological skills in a Special Business Administration.

Foreign Business Language

In the module group Foreign Business Language, students deepen their foreign language skills in the context of economics, so that these can be used purposefully in a practical professional activity and scientific context. For this purpose, competences in one of the following foreign languages of economics are taught:

  • English
  • French
  • Italian
  • Spanish
  • Russian

Research

The Master's program in Business Administration is characterized by a pronounced scientific orientation and an orientation of the content focus on current research issues. Students acquire extensive knowledge of relevant research methods and strategies, enabling them to apply the appropriate scientific methods to independently solve complex business management problems.

Master Thesis

The master thesis module comprises the master thesis and a disputation or colloquium on the master thesis. This serves the independent, scientific processing of a set topic.
