Career prospects after graduation
Demand for IT professionals
The demand for IT specialists remains high. In 2018 there was a peak in the demand for IT professionals. 20,000 more job offers were advertised than in the previous year. This corresponds to an increase of 16 percent over the previous year. IT application consultants, among others, are particularly in demand. At the same time, the number of unemployed people seeking IT work is falling. In 2018 it was 2.7 percent, which is a very low value. Compared to the previous year, it fell by 23,000 or eight percent 1. The statement by Mr. Achim Berg, President of Bitkom, underlines the current situation for IT specialists in Germany: “In Germany, it is becoming more and more difficult to find the urgently needed IT specialists. The economy needs experts such as software developers, specialists for IT security and IT consultants in order to successfully shape digitization ”2.
Potential occupational fields
For graduates of the IISM course, there are many different professions that can be taken up. The following three are just examples from an even wider range of professions:

- IT Service Manager: You manage the planning, provision and improvement of IT services, take care of the "roll-out" of new information systems in the company and organize the necessary training courses for users in the various countries.
- IT controller: You plan and manage the company's IT organization. This includes, for example, portfolio management, budgeting and personnel requirement planning, but also the control of IT projects.
