Welcome to the University of Bamberg's Master in English and American Studies!
In the winter term 2013/14, we introduced an exclusively English-taught MA programme which can be studied in two branches, the "regular" as well as the "Joint Master's Programme in English and American Studies" branch. On this page and its subpages, you will find all relevant information regarding the structure of the programme(s), the application procedures, your contact persons plus a detailed page on important appointments upon commencement of the programmes.
The European Joint Master's Programme is an international degree issued by Bamberg and currently three other universities, namely the Karl-Franzens-Universität in Graz, the Université Paris Diderot in Paris, the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Università Ca'Foscari in Venice. The City College of the City University of New York, the University of Pécs and the Autonomous University of Barcelona are mobility partners of the Joint Degree. The universities in the consortium work together to provide a high quality international curriculum with regional aspects. After successful completion of the full programme students will be awarded the joint MA degree of the currently four core members of the consortium identifying the corresponding equivalent per country, and receive a diploma supplement. For this degree, special application requirements apply.
Between 2008 and 2013, the "MA Anglistik/Amerikanistik" and the "European Joint Master's Degree" were separate programmes. For information on the "MA Anglistik/Amerikanistik" (until summer term 2013) please click here.
"English and American Studies" can be taken by MA students in other programmes in their "Erweiterungsbereich". Please note that students wanting to study any course in the institute of Anglistik/Amerikanistik have to sit the Placement Test before taking any classes!
