Dear Members,
most of you certainly still remember our very enjoyable time in Maribor, Slovenia. In this context, I'm very pleased that I can already forward to you the invitation of the Vienna Academy of Science to hold the next SIDG congress in 2012. For this early invitation I would like to thank our member Eveline Wandl-Vogt for the initiative she took in Vienna.
The congress will take place between July 23 and July 27, 2012 at the Academy. Please, reserve this period in your calendar. A call for papers and more detailed information will come to you in due course and will be printed in the 2011 edition of our bulletin.
Our journal will reach you slightly early this year. I wish to thank the journal’s editor-in-chief Astrid van Nahl and her collaborators very much for their dedication and efforts in preparing an outstanding journal, which has been rightfully rated as such by the European Science Foundation. Due to a brush-up at the publishing house, the external appearance of the journal has slightly varied.
Our financial situation has become better, but we still need more members. Please, speak about the Society among your colleagues and invite them to join us. Our journal and our congresses are worth it. Moreover, we hope to plan a small summer school on dialectology in the near future, in order to make the Society more attractive for students in our field.
Martin Haase, Summer 2010
President of the SIDG
