The main purpose of promoting internationalisation is to give students of Political Science the opportunity to achieve both an MA in Bamberg and an MA from a foreign university within the standard period of study (24 months). This is in line with the University’s and the Social Science Faculty’s strategy creating cooperation agreements with foreign partners. Not only does this help to establish solid long-term international cooperations, but it allows Bamberg's MA graduates to establish an international profile for employers.
The advantages of such select programmes are obvious: Students are afforded with a unique opportunity to study at two excellent universities that collaborate with a view to provide them with an integrated, structured, well-supported and well-managed international learning experience. We deliberately seek out universities with an excellent track record that complement our own offerings rather than replicating them. In collaboration with our partners, we aim to create and exploit synergies to benefit our students’ learning experience. Students gain experience of a different culture inside and outside the confines of the relevant universities. They improve their command of a foreign language, which is a crucial asset in a globalising economy. They interact and network with students from a variety of cultures, further enhancing their employability. The integrated nature of these courses also ensures that this is achieved without prolonging the time students have to spend at university.
