Dr. Christian Dorsch und Thomas Dörfler, M.A. trafen im März und April Diplomaten bei den Vereinten Nationen und 15 Studierende der Universität vertraten Guatemala auf der weltweit größten UN-Konferenzsimulation in New York.

BaMUN 2011

Vom 10. bis zum 12. Dezember 2010 veranstaltete die Universität Bamberg ihre alljährliche Model United Nations Simulation für die NMUN-Delegierten der Friedrich Alexander-Univerität Erlangen, der Universität Erfurt und die eigene NMUN-Delegation.

Motivation: NMUN is a great experience for me to learn more about an important organisation like the UN, how to proceed diplomatically and at the end discuss with amazing students from all over the world.

Motivation: By getting an inside view to the procedures of the UN I hope to understand whether or not (and if so how) institutions have the ability to change states behavior. Besides that I want to improve my soft-skills.

Motivation: Quoting Oscar Wilde: "Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught." A hands-on experience like NMUN is thus a gateway to valuable first-hand insights about how the real world works and goes way beyond traditional learning and teaching methods.

Motivation: Taking part in the National Model United Nations is an extraordinary educational experience offering me the unique opportunity to better understand the inner working of the United Nations. I imagine that doing research on a country, debating global concerns as well as finding solutions to world problems in cooperation with other delegates, will give me a full taste of the complexity of international relations and provide me with challenging and differing views.
