The Double Masters Degree in Governance and International Politics offers the opportunity to achieve both an MA from the University of Bamberg (Germany) and an MA from Aston University in Birmingham (UK) within the standard period of study (24 months).
Through this programme, graduates gain a high-level understanding of political and economic power in a globalised world. Studying modules on topics such as Religion and Global Politics, Security and Defence in Europe and International Political Communication and Leaders, students develop wide-ranging insights into political behaviour and skills in the critical analysis of contemporary political issues.
Aston is a long established research-led University known for its world-class teaching quality and strong links to industry, government and commerce. At the University of Bamberg, Political Science is taught as a social science with a strong empirical focus. After successful completion of their studies, graduates are awarded a Master of Arts in “Governance and International Politics” from Aston University and a Master of Arts in “Political Science with a Special Focus on International and European Relations” from the University of Bamberg.

Fees at Bamberg
The University of Bamberg does not charge tuition fees with the beginning of the winter term 2013/2014. However, students are obliged to pay administrative fees to the amount of 74 Euro per semester (so-called "Semesterbeitrag"). These administrative fees include contributions to the students union and free public transport in Bamberg and surroundings.

Funding
This year we are able to offer two scholarships to the amount of £1000 to students of the programme. This year's applicants can also apply for these scholarships by indicating on their applications (due by 30 June) that they would like to be considered for the Aston-Bamberg scholarships. Moreover, applicants that want to be considered should submit a short essay in English of approximately 1000 words on the topic "Why you feel you deserve the scholarship and how you hope to benefit from the opportunity" and include this with their application.

The Double Masters programme begins each year in October. In order to apply to one of the programme's scholarships it is recommended for applicants to submit their application by June 30th. Applicants entering the Double Masters programme have to hand in their application in a twofold way by applying firstly for the normal Master in Political Science programme at Bamberg (online or written application submitted to the Studentenkanzlei) and secondly by submitting a written application to the coordinator of the Double Masters programme.
