New: See a
report on the workshop published in AARGNews 46, March 2013
Aims and scope:
This ground-based aerial archaeology workshop is targeted at students and professionals alike. It will introduce participants to uses of aerial photographs for archaeological research and conservation. Interactive sessions will guide participants through ways of seeing information on aerial images. This will enable them to use their acquired experiences from fieldwork etc. to understand what can be identified on aerial photographs.
Participants will also be taught use of
AirPhoto SE to transform and georeference oblique and vertical aerial photographs. Through use of a GIS, they will complete small projects in an area of Bavaria. For this purpose, participants are asked to bring their own laptop with a GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS etc.).
