This year marks the 5th anniversary of the cooperation between the University of Bamberg and Xi’an Jiaotong University, China.
Since 2006, Xi’an Jiaotong has sent five students each year to study at our university.
Additionally, we have had the chance to welcome two colleagues from Xi'an. The next year will for the first time see a colleague from our partner university visiting Bamberg for a longer period of time: in the upcoming winter term, a scholar from Xi’an will join our Fachdidaktik team.
Prof. Houswitschka has been generously invited to Jiaotong University as a guest professor on several occassions since 2005. He has always enjoyed working wih colleagues and students at Jiaotong University.
The current exchange students from Xi’an and members of staff celebrated the occassion with an advent dinner, at which the students shared their thoughts on studying in Bamberg.

"Germany is not like what I have heard of (always serious and not like laughing). The people in Bamberg are friendly to foreigners. Whenever I have a problem, I can find somebody to help me. As for my studies, Bamberg University gives me a lot of space to decide what kind of courses I want to take. I believe this experience of exchange study in German will play an important part for my further life."

"Ever since I was a boy, I've been fascinated with China. I'm so glad that our two universities have developed such a lively cooperation over the years."

"There are great distinctions between Chinese and German advanced education, here I have no limitation to select the courses - I for example have chosen International Marketing. Don`t worry even if you have no idea about German---we have a large amount of courses taught in English.
In addition, thanks to the location of Germany, I have been to many other European countries. Germany can be highly recommended if you are addicted to travelling like me. I am especially impressed by the beautiful sceneries here in Bavaria.
Don`t hesitate to apply for this program if you are allowed to, come to Bamberg and have a life-changing experience in Germany!"

"I would never have guessed that Bamberg is such a beautiful and charming city before I have come here! I like the enormous variety of beers and yummy curried sausages, the relaxing lifestyle and medieval architecture. And I didn’t take long to figure out my new life because everyone around me is willing to help me get over my problems. I enjoy hanging out with my new friends in pubs and drinking a couple of cups of Fassbier. Well, I am being germanized now, aren’t I?"

"I have always been looking for an opportunity to study abroad and experience a different culture. Now I have seized the precious opportunity to study in Bamberg for one semester. Even though it’s not a long time, it’s enough for me to find out differences in our two cultures. The beautiful scenery in Bamberg brightens my heart. Although the dark comes really early – almost at four o’clock, the blue sky and clean river bring sunshine into my heart."
