TRAc-Projects

What are TRAc-projects?

In collaboration with the university’s research unit, the Trimberg Research Academy ( TRAc) supports individual research projects as well as research groups. In this sense, TRAc’s tasks reach beyond the scope of services offered by many comparable organisations (research schools and research academies) throughout Germany: Apart from supporting and interlinking structured PhD programmes (“ schools” section), TRAc offers consultation and support for individual (soon-to-be) post-doctoral researchers who intend to independently associate themselves with the University of Bamberg via third-party-funded projects (“ TRAc-projects” section). There are currently two EU-projects associated with TRAc.

Our services

Even prior to the composition of research proposals, TRAc and the university’s research unit offer advice on funding opportunities and provide support for researchers during the application procedure. With this early-stage support, we hope to make a contribution to bridging the considerable gap which often emerges between the finalisation of a dissertation project and the commencement of a postdoctoral research project.
TRAc-projects are therefore conducive to strengthening the research profile of the university as a whole, and they aim at offering local PhD candidates an incentive to continue their academic careers at the University of Bamberg. However, our comprehensive services geared towards improving the research environment and our various networking initiatives with external partners also serve as a means to recruit young scholars from outside Bamberg who feel particularly attracted to the university’s unique research profile.
