Thomas Wirtky

Thomas Wirtky is an external PhD student at the Chair of Information Systems and Services. He is part of the research project “Centre of Human Resources Information Systems” and is interested in the support of information systems for HR tasks in organizations.

In 2003, he graduated from the university of cooperative education Stuttgart in Information Technology. In 2005, he received a Master of Business and Information Technology from the University of Melbourne, Austrlia.

During his studies, Thomas worked as a student trainee at Hewlett-Packard in the areas of application development and network services. Afer his studies, he worked as a consultant for 4 years, 2 years at Accenture in Technology Consulting and further 2 years at McKinsey & Company in the Business Technology Office. For instance, he functionally designed a new billing system, which combines retail and business customers of a German telecommunication provider. In another project, he supported the IT feasibility study in order to carve out a business unit of a major German bank including the selection process of a target core banking system.
