Since November 2007 Nils Joachim is a Graduate Research Assistant and doctoral student at the Department of Information Systems and Services at the University of Bamberg in Germany. He graduated in Information Systems at the University of Bamberg and in Business Management at the University of Wales, Swansea (United Kingdom). His research interest centers on business value of IT and more specific on Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA). In his doctoral study Nils analyzes SOA with respect to different theoretical perspectives: the organizational decision to adopt, business value (e. g., flexibility, integration of business processes, or the impact on costs), and the influence on outsourcing of business processes. Nils is author or coauthor of several reviewed academic papers published in international conferences proceedings (ICIS, ECIS, AMCIS, HICSS).
In addition to his research Nils gives an introductory course in academic research and writing in the information systems area. Furthermore, he also consults students, who study information systems, in order to organize their study.
