Academic Institutions

Research at the University of Bamberg is characterized by a high degree of interdisciplinarity and integration.

As an example, research and events carried out in each of Bamberg’s medieval subject areas are brought together at the Centre for Medieval Studies (ZEMAS), and the Centre for Interreligious Studies (ZIS) promotes the understanding of various systems of religious symbolism and interreligious relations.

Likewise, the Institute for Longitudinal Educational Research (INBIL) is also an institute of ever-increasing importance. Its work is of an inter-faculty and interdisciplinary nature and aims to integrate research activities into the teaching curriculum. Furthermore, the institute cooperates with external scholars and institutions.
