The many faces of this historic town are perhaps what fascinate visitors the most. The "City on the Hills" represents Franconia's answer to Rome, the "Island City" is its pulsating heart. Romance is in the air all year round amidst the splendour of the "baroque town" of Bamberg. The "cultural city" has international acclaim through the world-famous Bamberg Symphony Orchestra.
Ranking among the most outstanding buildings are the late romanesque/early gothic imperial cathedral, featuring the world-famous Bamberg Horseman, and the Old Bridge Town Hall. Bamberg also offers many other leisure activities and destinations. Find out more about the many sights or create your own sightseeing tour to make your stay in Bamberg truly unforgettable!
Bamberg, baroque and, of course, the city's famous beer. Nine breweries within the town boundaries produce more than 50 different beers, all of which are just waiting to be tasted! What better opportunity to advance from a regular beer drinker to a connoisseur than in a town whose brewing traditions go back a thousand years. Whether you choose Bamberg's famous smoked beer, the Franconian Brewery Museum, or simply the many beer cellars dotted around the town, now is your chance to discover the true capital of beer!
