From 2005 to 2013 the BiKS Research Group (“Educational processes, competence development and selection decisions in preschool- and school age”), supported by the German Research Foundation DFG, studied educational processes, competence development and selection decisions in preschool and school age from different disciplinary perspectives. The multidisciplinary approach of the eight projects and the two longitudinal studies (BiKS-3-10 and BiKS-8-14) of our research group involves research from the fields of psychology, sociology, and education. Combining the two panel studies enables us to study educational processes from preschool age until ninth grade. Towards the end of our funding period, we would like to invite you to our concluding International Conference of the DFG Research Group BiKS in Bamberg. We will have presentations of each of the eight BiKS projects which again will be discussed by outstanding researchers in the field. In addition, distinguished speakers (Paul Leseman, Hartmut Ditton and Walter Müller) will give keynotes on related subjects and finally Eckhard Klieme will give a public speech for a wider audience.
