Pillar 2 ‘Education and Social Inequality Across the Entire Life Course’

Pillar 3 ‘Changes in Human Capital, Labour Markets and Demographic Structures and their Impact on Social Inequality in Modern Societies’

Professor Dr. Sandra Buchholz is particularly interested in supervising doctoral students who aim at analysing social inequalities in various life spheres (such as in education, employment and family) as well as the underlying mechanisms for the (re-) production of social inequalities, also from an international comparative perspective.

Professor Buchholz' website at the Chair of Sociology I

Dr. Sandra Buchholz is Professor of Sociology. Her research focuses on the international comparison of education systems as well as employment and welfare regimes, their effects on social inequality structures and life courses as well as quantitative methods, especially longitudinal research methods and event history modelling. Her articles have been published in peer-reviewed national and international journals (such as European Sociological Review, Kölner Zeitschrift für Soziologie und Sozialpsychologie, Berliner Journal für Soziologie, Sociologia del lavoro, Journal of Comparative Family Studies). Additionally, she has been the editor of several international comparative book volumes which analysed changes in social inequalities in Europe and in the United States of America.
