Professor Dr. Claus H. Carstensen is particularly interested in supervising doctoral students in the areas of competence assessments, longitudinal data analyses and latent variable modelling.

Dr. Claus H. Carstensen is Professor of Psychology and Methods of Educational Research. His research focuses on item response theory, methods of large scale assessments and on modelling of longitudinal data. Further areas of interest are diagnostics of competency development in the life course and international comparative educational research. He has published in journals such as Psychometrika, Applied Psychological Measurement, Studies in Educational Evaluation, Journal of Individual Differences and International Journal of Science Education.
